Taken a couple of years ago at Montmartre one night. One of my first experiences with shooting film.

Taken with a Minolta XE-5 and Ilford film.

It is very beautiful at the Vatican City.

Taken on a Canon 400d.

I think that these are lupins. If they are not then they look a lot like them. Nevertheless, here is a shot of some flowers.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3 and 50mm 1.4 lens. Forgotten which film, but I do like its tones.

Just like the icicle photo, this was taken looking out my bedroom window.

Taken with a Canon 400D at the beginning of 2010.

In a building next to the Sony Centre in Berlin, these cool lifts can be found.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, Kodak Portra film.

A nice tree in Portugal.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, not sure which film.

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Most of the photos uploaded so far have been shot on film. This one, however, is digital. Is there much difference do you think?

Taken with a Canon 7D and a 50mm 1.4 lens.

I return to Berlin with this photo taken from a very high building. It also happens to be the building with Europe’s fastest lift apparently. For quite a while, I have had this shot cropped between the two bars. However, after having edited for a second time, I prefer it with the bars left in.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, Kodak Portra film.

A miniature milestone for this 100 day series of photos, day 10! This was taken at the Place du concorde in Paris.

Taken with a Canon 400d and my trusty 50mm lens. The colours have not been touched in post.

Now that I have batteries in my keyboard I can type again! This was taken outside the City Hall in Stockholm.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4 and I think it was Fuji film.

I’m having to write this through google speak now facility because my keyboard stopped working so as you can imagine it is taking a long time because I have to copy everything from the google search bar and paste it into this postTaken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4 lens with Ilford film.

In the centre of Berlin, there is a museum called the Topography of terrors. It is located next door to the old SS interrogation cells. Although there are many interesting things to do in Berlin, I found a lot of them were to do with the war.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, Kodak Portra film.

Another photo from Tavira. On the main square one night, they decided to host some weird contemporary dancing thing.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4 lens with Ilford film.

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

The colourful underground metro/subway/tube system in Berlin which runs mostly overground which makes a nice contrast to London where all you can see out the windows is tubes and pipes.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, Kodak Portra film.

Taken in the sleepy town of Tavira in Portugal. Doesn’t hat guy in the background looks like he’s hailing a cab! That the sky is over-exposed doesn’t really bother me because there is more than enough dynamic range in the rest of the shot. Not even film is perfect. The filmy look, however indescribable, still (at least to my eyes) has something mystical about it which trumps digital; well, it does in some circumstances depending on what look you are going for. On the other hand, I am really starting to think that certain digital cameras (i.e. Leica M8) are capable of creating a look in the same league as film.

Taken with a Canon Eos 3, 50mm 1.4, Ilford film.

A couple a years ago, I found this huge icicle hanging from my bedroom window. In the background you can just about make out the snow on the rooftops and trees.

Taken with a Canon 7D and a 50mm 1.4 lens.

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

I took this in Lille where I found this random gig happening in the middle of the main square opposite the palais des beaux arts. The radio station NRJ -pronounce énergie (it took me a year in France to work that one out)- was doing some publicity thing and lots of apparently famous French people came to perform.

Taken with a Cannon Eos 3 with a 50mm 1.4 lens and using Kodak Portra.

You know what they say, a photo a day keeps the gloom away? In effort to keep the gloom away for as long as possible, I will be posting a photograph from my photo collection each day for 100 days. To start the collection: London.

Taken with a Cannon Eos 3 with a 50mm 1.4 lens. No tripod here, just balanced on a post. This was taken just before christmas last year.
